(1) The following limitations apply to the use of anti-virus software.
C:\Agilent\ICPMH [if MassHunter is installed on drive D, then D:\Agilent\ICPMH]
C:\Program Files\Agilent\ICPMH
C:\Agilent.ICP-MS.ECM
(2) For batch folders that were created without the optional software "User Access Control Pack" (UAC), the audit trail is not recorded after UAC is enabled. Also, the "User Validation and Reason” function does not work when such a batch is open. Batch folders should be created after UAC is enabled. This specification is necessary to meet the “integrity” compliance requirements. To fulfill the requirement, all of the history after the electronic record is created must be recorded. Batches for which UAC was enabled in the middle have no history of when UAC was enabled. As a result, the audit trail itself is not supported because it cannot satisfy the "integrity" requirements.
(3) When changing users in Windows, do not use the “Switch user” function. The current user must log out, and then the new user must log in. If the “Switch user” function is used, serious problems may occur, such as displaying the incorrect user name on reports, and so on.
(4) Do not change the attributes and permissions of files and folders used by the MassHunter software. If you change any of these items, serious problems may occur such as a failure to start the system. To protect data on your local drive, use the "Protect Local Data" function that is supplied by OpenLab Server/ECM XT (former name: Data Store) Integration or MassHunter G7201C C.01.03 or later. Data on the database is always kept secure regardless of whether data on the local drive is protected or not.
(5) When using the database system*1, the following limitations apply to the length of the batch folder name. The limitation depends on the length of the path where MassHunter is installed. The following case shows values for the default installation path].
Database System |
Maximum Length of Batch Folder Name*2 |
---|---|
OpenLab Server Products (“Protect Local Data” is enabled) |
30 bytes |
Workstation Plus (“Protect Local Data” is enabled) |
30 bytes |
ECM (“Protect Local Data” is disabled) |
50 bytes |
ECM (“Protect Local Data” is enabled) |
30 bytes |
SDA (“Protect Local Data” is disabled) |
50 bytes |
SDA (“Protect Local Data” is enabled) |
30 bytes |
*1 Even if you do not use database integration, you need to maintain the Windows specification limit (maximum length of 260 bytes as the path length).
*2 When using local data protection, suffixes automatically generated from the date and time are added after the batch folder name you entered. For example, if you enter My_Batch, a folder called My_Batch (2017-05-17_12-00-00).B is created. The number of bytes here does not include the suffix.
(6) Do not use the following special characters in folder names or file names.

(7) Use letters of the alphabet, Japanese (Japanese version software), or Simplified Chinese (Chinese version software) for the folder names and file names. Do not use other characters. For example, do not use letters with umlauts, acute accents, grave accents, and circumflex accents.
(8) MassHunter creates a special Windows local user with administrator privileges and uses this for internal operations. You cannot use MassHunter in environments that do not allow administrative rights to Windows local users.
(9) After starting system operations, you cannot switch “Protect Local Data” between enabled/disabled. You need to decide whether to enable or disable it at the time of installation.
(10) The following access rights are required to use the system.
The following privileges are required for each database system.
Database System |
Required Privilege* |
---|---|
OpenLab Server Products |
Ability to edit the content of a project |
Workstation Plus |
Ability to edit the content of a project |
ECM |

SDA |
This Role is classified as "Project" Access server account for server currently in use Access database account for the database currently in use |
* For details, refer to the operation manual of each database product.
(11) Do not add a network card to the PC for the MassHunter. Also, do not use a LAN–USB conversion connector or wireless LAN. If you need to connect the system to the local LAN, use a hub.
(12) A folder hierarchy cannot be used in the database. For example, if you create two batch folders (Data\abc.b and Data\Project1\def.b) on your hard disk, abc.b and def.b are stored in the same hierarchy on the database. Instead, we recommend that you include the project name or user name as part of the batch folder name to organize the batch folder. When using OpenLab Server Products, Workstation Plus or ECM, you can then search for the batch folder based on this information.
(13) SDA does not have a search function based on batch folder names or the contents of the data. If you need to search, use OpenLab Server Products, Workstation Plus or ECM.
(14) SDA is a solution that is supplied on one PC. It is not a Client/Server system such as OpenLab Server Products, Workstation Plus or ECM. To keep data safe, you need to periodically back up databases on individual PCs.
(15) The maximum database size that you can use in the SDA is 10 GB.
(16) Do not use spaces in your Windows account name.
(17) Do not change your Windows account name. If you need to make changes, delete the account and create a new account.
(18) You need to clear "Let Windows manage my default printer" and set the printer you want to use as the default printer in [Settings] - [Devices] - [Printers & scanners] from the [Start] button. If no printer is connected, set "Microsoft Printer to PDF" as the default printer.
(19) For database integration, refer to the User Access Control Pack Manual for information on printer setup.
(20) If a batch folder is open in MassHunter in Instrument Control and Data Analysis at the same time, do not perform any other operations until either process has finished. You can check if a process has finished by whether or not the progress bar is displayed.
(21) Moving/copying batches to other projects using Content Management (Content Browser) in OpenLab Server Products or Workstation Plus is not supported. Especially when copying, this can cause serious errors, such as inconsistencies in the contents of the batch. When configuring OpenLab, we recommend that you do not give permission to move/copy folders unless necessary.
(22) Moving/copying batches to other Drawers using the ECM 3.x Web UI is not supported. When configuring ECM3.x, we recommend that you do not give permission to move/copy files unless necessary.
