The instrument is in Analysis Mode during autotuning and sample analysis. When not being used for these procedures, the instrument remains in Standby mode. To maintain or move the instrument, place the instrument in Shutdown mode and turn the power off.
The following sections explain how to put this instrument to Standby mode at the end of each day and how to put the instrument in Shutdown mode when necessary.
To return the instrument to Standby mode after running samples, complete the following steps:
A confirmation dialog box appears.
Plasma is off and the instrument enters Standby mode.
In Standby mode, "Standby" is displayed in the Status Bar and the indicator in the [Status Viewer] dialog box and Instrument Status Pane.
Make sure that positive extraction continues while the instrument is in Standby mode. The foreline pump exhaust continues to pass into the exhaust duct when the instrument is in Standby mode.
While the instrument is in Standby mode, it is okay to turn off the computer.
Except in emergency situations, put this instrument into Shutdown mode before you turn off the main power.
To return the instrument to Shutdown mode, complete the following steps:
Follow the instructions in Putting the Instrument in Standby Mode.
The Dashboard Pane is displayed.
The instrument starts to go to Shutdown mode.
In Shutdown mode, "Shutdown" is displayed in the Status Bar and the indicator in the [Status Viewer] dialog box and Instrument Status Pane is grayed out.
If you do not use the instrument for a long time, turn off the power to the instrument. Do the following steps:
Follow the instructions in Putting the Instrument in Shutdown Mode.
The switches are located on the front side. The power indicator light goes off.
